Formula 1 has extended its broadcast partnership with DAZN across Spain, Portugal and Andorra through the end of the 2030 season, securing long-term distribution for one of the sport’s most strategically important markets as F1 enters a new era of competition, technology and commercial growth.
Under the multi-year extension, DAZN will continue to provide live and on-demand coverage of every Formula 1 practice and qualifying session, Sprint and Grand Prix in the three territories. The package also includes Formula 2, Formula 3, F1 Academy and Porsche Supercup, alongside analysis, features and original programming.
The renewal builds on DAZN’s established position in the region. In Spain, the platform has been the principal F1 rights-holder since the 2024 season, while in Portugal it acquired the championship rights for the 2025–27 cycle, including the full Grand Prix weekend and support categories.
The new agreement comes at a particularly significant moment for Formula 1 in the Iberian market. Madrid will host its first Grand Prix at the new MADRING circuit from September 11–13, 2026, with the Spanish capital returning to the F1 calendar after a 45-year absence. Portugal is also scheduled to return to the calendar at Portimão in 2027. Formula 1 estimates that Spain and Portugal have a combined fanbase of 17.9 million people.
Ian Holmes, Chief Media Rights and Content Creation Officer at Formula 1, said, “We’re delighted to extend our partnership with DAZN and ensure fans across Spain, Andorra, and Portugal can continue to enjoy comprehensive Formula 1 coverage through 2030. DAZN has played an important role in the growth of Formula 1 across these markets, particularly among younger and more diverse audiences, combining excellent live coverage with compelling storytelling that brings fans closer to our sport. Over the coming years, we’re excited to build on what we have achieved together so far.”
Óscar Vilda, CEO of DAZN Iberia, added, “Formula 1 is one of the cornerstones of our sports offering, and we are incredibly proud to continue bringing the Championship to fans in Spain, Andorra and Portugal until 2030. This renewal allows us to keep delivering first-class coverage, combining the excitement of live racing with expert analysis, innovation and an experience that brings fans closer to everything happening on and off the track. We want to continue evolving the way we tell the story of Formula 1 and build on the huge interest in the Championship across both countries.”
For DAZN, the agreement fits into a broader strategy of building a premium motorsport ecosystem across the Iberian Peninsula. In Portugal, the company will add exclusive MotoGP rights from 2027 through 2031 and has also secured exclusive WorldSBK coverage for the next five seasons.
That strategy is particularly relevant as the 2026 Formula 1 championship enters its decisive phase. After the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Mercedes leads the Constructors’ Championship with 468 points, ahead of Ferrari on 346 and McLaren on 287. Kimi Antonelli leads the Drivers’ Championship with 267 points, 66 ahead of teammate George Russell, while Lewis Hamilton sits third on 191.
The timing of DAZN’s renewal is therefore commercially significant. The next race is the inaugural Madrid Grand Prix from September 11–13, immediately followed by the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku on September 24–26.
For Formula 1, the agreement provides long-term broadcast stability in a market combining a large existing fanbase with new domestic events. For DAZN, it secures a premium rights property through 2030 while strengthening its ability to package motorsport as a broader subscription proposition.
The renewal is consequently more than a straightforward rights extension. With Madrid now joining the calendar, Portimão returning in 2027 and DAZN expanding its motorsport portfolio across Iberia, Formula 1 has become a central component of the platform’s long-term sports strategy in the region.
