The National Hockey League (NHL) has signed a major global partnership with DAZN, making the streaming giant the exclusive international home of the NHL.TV across nearly 200 markets starting with the 2025–26 season.
The landmark multi-year agreement grants DAZN exclusive streaming rights to every NHL game—including the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the Stanley Cup Final—outside the United States, Canada, and the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden).
This deal marks a pivotal shift in the NHL’s international media strategy, as the league aims to simplify global access to its content while expanding its reach through DAZN’s established platform.
With over 120 million registered users worldwide, DAZN will bring NHL action to fans via smart TVs, mobile devices, gaming consoles, and other connected platforms—delivering hockey anytime, anywhere.
Commenting on the occasion, Shay Segev, DAZN Group CEO, said, “DAZN’s landmark agreement with the NHL is a significant step forward in our mission to deliver the most exciting sports action to fans across the globe. We’re excited to bring a premium North American sports property to a broad international audience through an innovative, accessible, and immersive viewing experience. By combining the NHL’s thrilling content with DAZN’s global platform and best-in-class technology, we’re unlocking new ways for fans to connect with the game they love — anytime, anywhere, and on any device.”
Steve McArdle, NHL Chief Operating Officer, added, “The NHL is a global League, and with 30 % of our Players born outside of North America, engaging our international fans is a significant priority. Media distribution is at the core of our global strategy, and we are thrilled to partner with DAZN to continue to expand our global reach and engage with our fast-growing international fan base. Our shared commitment to innovation, gold standard technology and providing an exceptional content delivery service will allow us to deliver NHL content to hockey fans around the world on the platforms they prefer.”
For the NHL, this partnership reflects a broader ambition to deepen its connection with global fans. With nearly 30% of its players born outside North America, the league sees international engagement as a strategic imperative.
The timing of this partnership comes amid a fragmented sports media landscape, where fans often juggle multiple subscriptions to follow their favourite teams. With NHL.TV now consolidated into DAZN’s multi-sport offering, many fans may benefit from streamlined access, though pricing and regional availability will remain closely watched.
This move also underscores a broader industry trend: the migration of live sports to direct-to-consumer platforms that prioritise personalisation, flexibility, and scale.
With this deal, the NHL takes a bold step in its digital evolution—aligning with a platform that shares its vision of global growth, technological excellence, and fan-first storytelling.
