Danone, a global leader committed to bringing health through food to as many people as possible, has announced a significant partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

This strategic alliance has designated Danone as an official partner for both the highly anticipated TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 and the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Morocco 2024.

This collaboration underscores Danone’s deep-rooted commitment to fostering health and well-being across the African continent through the powerful platforms of food and sports.

As an official partner, Danone will play a crucial role in ensuring the nutritional well-being of all participants and attendees at both prestigious tournaments. An extensive range of Danone’s popular dairy products from its leading African brands, including Danone, Fan Milk, Dan’Up, Nutriday, Jamila, and Dango (a key brand in Egypt), will be supplied to over 10,000 dedicated volunteers, 5,000 accredited journalists, officials, and team members throughout the competitions. Furthermore, these nutritious offerings will be readily available for spectators in stadiums and official fan zones, promoting balanced nutrition across the events.

This partnership is a natural extension of Danone’s enduring mission to “bring health through food to as many people as possible.” The shared values of community, knowledge-sharing, and celebration that are intrinsic to these prominent football tournaments align seamlessly with Danone’s corporate philosophy. Building on its recent successful involvement as a supplier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Danone is well-positioned to leverage its extensive nutritional expertise to highlight the critical link between a balanced diet and an active lifestyle.

Beyond the competitive fields, Danone is dedicating its support to the CAF African Schools Programme. This vital initiative will involve the development of specialized educational kits for young footballers, emphasizing the fundamental importance of healthy eating habits and consistent physical activity from an early age. This commitment draws directly from Danone’s rich history with youth sports, notably its more than two-decade-long organization of the international children’s football tournament, the Danone Nations Cup.

For Danone, this sponsorship represents a significant strategic move to strengthen its presence and drive growth within the dynamic African market, particularly in Morocco, the host nation for both tournaments. It forms an integral part of the company’s long-term vision to foster a positive impact on local communities through sustainable food practices, aligning with its ambition to achieve global B Corp™ certification by 2025.

Commenting on the partnership, Antoine de Saint-Affrique, CEO of Danone, stated, “This partnership fully reflects our mission: bring health through food to as many people as possible. The values of these competitions—proximity, transmission, celebration—deeply resonate with those of Danone. We are proud to be part of these iconic events to showcase our brands and vision across Africa. Africa is the cradle of humanity and will also be its future.”

The collaboration between Danone and CAF is poised to be a powerful force in promoting healthier lifestyles and contributing to the holistic development of communities and young talent throughout Africa, leaving a lasting legacy beyond the football pitch.

Danone is a leading global food and beverage company operating in three health-focused, fast-growing, and on-trend categories: Essential Dairy & Plant-Based products, Waters, and Specialized Nutrition. With a long-standing mission of bringing health through food to as many people as possible, Danone aims to inspire healthier and more sustainable eating and drinking practices while committing to achieving measurable nutritional, social, societal, and environmental impact.
