The global law firm, Cooley LLP, has been appointed as an official legal services provider of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA, adding another specialist advisory partner to the organising committee’s expanding commercial ecosystem as preparations intensify for the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
As part of the agreement, Cooley will provide a full suite of legal services over the next three years, advising LA28 on corporate and commercial transactions, litigation, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, dispute resolution and operational legal matters. The firm will also support the organising committee through pro bono legal work to advance LA28’s community initiatives and inclusive legacy objectives.
The partnership leverages Cooley’s established Sports+ practice, which advises professional sports teams, leagues, investors, media companies and emerging sports technology businesses. LA28 said the firm’s expertise across sports, innovation and technology aligns with its vision of delivering a modern, digitally enabled Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Cooley becomes the second law firm to join LA28 as a legal services provider, complementing the organising committee’s growing legal advisory network following the recent appointment of Gibson Dunn as preparations accelerate for the 2028 Games. The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will welcome more than 15,000 Olympic and Paralympic athletes, marking the city’s third Olympic Games and first Paralympic Games while becoming the first Summer Olympics to feature more women athletes than men.
