City Football Group’s India CEO Damian Willoughby announced his departure after a stint of 7 years. City Football Group India after acquiring the majority stakes of ISL side Mumbai City FC completely transformed the team under the guidance and experience of Damian Willoughby.

Willoughby after taking up the role of CEO of City Football Group India in late 2019, he transformed Mumbai City FC into a force to be reckoned with, after winning the ISL in the 2020-21 season, finishing first with 40 points in 20 games and scoring a total of 35 goals and conceding only 18.

Willoughby joined Manchester City in 2013 and became the global head of sales at the top tier English club, along with City Football Group also have Girona, New York City FC, Yokohoma FC and many others under their revered portfolio.

Valued at $3 billion, City Football Group is a huge British holding company founded back in 2013, in November 2019 CFG India acquired 65% shares in Mumbai City FC, Willoughby started his career in 2000 by sponsoring Scottish side Rangers and switched to Chelsea FC in the premier league in 2007.
