Chelsea signs two-year partnership deal with Rapid grocery app Zapp

The new partnership between Zapp and Chelsea will see their first TV commercial come out at halftime during Chelsea’s opening Premier League games against crystal palace on August 14 at Stamford Bridge.

European Champions Chelsea have roped in Zapp as they have signed an initial two-year deal. Zapp will be now the official European on-demand convenience and grocery partner of the club. The sponsorship deal will cover all Chelsea’s sides, which includes Men, Women and Academy sides as well.

Chelsea’s official European on-demand conveniences and grocery delivery partnership will be announced on Tuesday by a group of global technology investors. The deal is struck with the last year’s European champions, as Zapp is looking to target and attempt to build its presence in a highly intense crowded market. The acquisition would be unusually high-profile for a startup, but it will highlight the necessity of gaining market share in the expanding fast-food sector.

A press release released on Monday read, “Zapp, the fast-growing startup that delivers snacks, drinks, essential groceries and other everyday items within minutes, 24/7, has been chosen as the official European on-demand convenience and grocery delivery partner of Chelsea Football Club. The partnership brings together the current European champions and the UK’s only 24/7 rapid delivery service, with both aiming to deliver in 2021. Zapp celebrates the passion that goes into football and the unique way sport brings people together, from celebrating the wins to commiserations – and everything in between. Whether it’s drinks and snacks on match day, half-time refreshments or the final whistle after party, Zapp lets fans live in the moment.”

In this current financial year already, the investors have invested billions of dollars into firms like Getir, Gorillas, and GoPuff. Many of the new businesses offer to deliver groceries and other items in half an hour or less, but there are questions about how much of the money generated may be wasted when a wave of consolidation sweeps the industry.

It is also confirmed on Monday, the new partnership between Zapp and Chelsea will see their first TV commercial come out at halftime during Chelsea’s opening Premier League games against crystal palace on August 14 at Stamford Bridge.
