Chelsea FC Women, the Women’s Super League club, have signed a new partnership with Signify Group, the UK digital risk protection company, to strengthen monitoring and response systems against online abuse targeting the team’s players and staff.

The agreement gives Chelsea access to Signify Group’s Threat Matrix platform, a technology solution designed to identify harmful behaviour across major social networks. Threat Matrix tracks abusive messages, flags coordinated harassment, and helps clubs compile evidence for law-enforcement bodies. The deal positions Chelsea alongside a growing list of elite organisations investing in specialist digital safety tools as online abuse continues to rise, particularly toward women athletes.

A Chelsea FC Women spokesperson said, “The welfare of our players, coaches and staff is of the utmost importance to Chelsea FC Women. By working with Signify Group, we are taking proactive steps to further address online abuse and threats, ensuring our players, staff and the wider Chelsea Women’s family can focus on what matters most – competing at the highest level on the pitch.”

Jonathan Hirshler, CEO of Signify Group, added, “Online abuse is one of the most pressing challenges in modern sport, and as the profile of women’s sport grows exponentially, sadly, online abuse follows. We applaud Chelsea Women’s leadership in this space and are delighted to support their commitment to creating a safer environment for everyone associated with women’s football across the club.”

Signify Group works across football, rugby, and Olympic sport, combining AI-driven detection with human verification to help rights holders respond quickly and confidently to digital threats. Internationally, the brand has expanded its portfolio by appointing Rahul Dravid as an ambassador in India and partnering with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 Team.

For Chelsea FC Women, the addition of Signify Group strengthens a commercial roster that includes Cadbury, Legends/ASM Global, Fanatics, Molson Coors and Carling, Constant Contact, D.LOUISE and Škoda. The club has also attracted investment from Seven Seven Six founder Alexis Ohanian, reflecting the growing commercial momentum behind the women’s game.

On the pitch, Chelsea continue to push in the Women’s Super League title race. The team sits second with 21 points, three behind Manchester City Women. A demanding run of fixtures awaits, with league matches against Everton and Brighton followed by UEFA Women’s Champions League meetings with Roma and Wolfsburg. Chelsea will then face Liverpool in the quarterfinal of the Women’s League Cup as the calendar intensifies.

Digital protection and player welfare have become essential parts of elite football operations, and Chelsea’s move signals the ongoing professionalisation of the women’s game as competitive and commercial pressures accelerate.
