Chelsea announce FICO as principal official partner for pre-season tour

Throughout the tour, Chelsea will assist FICO in advancing financial literacy to benefit communities.

The Premier League (PL) team, Chelsea FC have announced a new collaboration with the world’s leading provider of analytics software, solutions and services, FICO.

The pre-season trip in 2023/24, which will involve the men’s squad visiting the East Coast of the United States for a number of games, will feature FICO as the principal official partner, as part of the deal.

Tom Glick, President of Business at Chelsea FC, said, “We’re excited about developing a strategic partnership between Chelsea and FICO. The first incarnation of this is teaming up on Chelsea’s pre-season tour this summer where we will be working closely to make a positive impact on the communities that we will be visiting. We are committed to making this one of the biggest and most successful tours in the club’s history, so are delighted to be able to partner with such an industry-leading business to help achieve that goal.”

FICO is the top authority in the sector on reshaping how businesses utilise data and analytics to engage with their clients and tailor their business plans to suit them. Ninety percent of the leading U.S. lenders utilise the FICO Score, which was developed by FICO more than 30 years ago and remains the first industry-standard credit scoring model.

Throughout the tour, Chelsea will assist FICO in advancing financial literacy to benefit communities. One in five American teen students lacks the basic skills of financial literacy, and 74% of youth lack confidence in their financial understanding, therefore there is a clear need. Nearly the same percentage claim to be looking forward to learning more about it.

FICO and Chelsea hope to increase enthusiasm for financial education and boost understanding of financial literacy in the United States through the Field of Financial Empowerment campaign. The locations where Chelsea will be performing during the tour, such as Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Atlanta, Georgia; and Chicago, Illinois, will host FICO’s ‘Score A Better Future Fundamentals’ financial education workshops for high school students. Participants will have the chance to witness the Blues play in one of their preseason tour games in addition to taking part in a workshop in their hometown.

Nikhil Behl, Chief Marketing Officer, FICO, said, “For over 30 years FICO has been an innovator in financial inclusion to help responsibly broaden access to credit to help consumers reach their financial hopes and dreams. Financial education is a key component of our strong commitment to financial inclusion. Through Field of Financial Empowerment powered by FICO, we’re proud to have the opportunity to visit several communities in the U.S. with the Chelsea Football Club to ensure that the next generation is equipped with valuable information to help drive financial success.”
