CFG pens down partnership extension with Nissan

Nissan was CFG’s first multi-club partner, as it became the Official Automotive Partner in 2014.

The City Football Group (CFG), which includes the Premier League club Manchester City, has penned down a partnership extension with the Japanese car manufacturer, Nissan. Following the renewal, the partnership between these two entities has entered its third term, however, the details about the duration of the new deal haven’t been revealed yet.

Nissan was City Football Group’s first multi-club partner, as it became the Official Automotive Partner of the group and its football teams, which includes Manchester City, New York City FC, and Melbourne City FC in 2014. Since then, it has grown to include the Spanish club Girona FC, this recent renewal will extend it further to include the Chinese second-tier club Sichuan Jiuniu FC.

As part of the renewal, Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola will be continuing his role as a Nissan ambassador, which was first signed in 2019. While Guardiola will also be featuring in Nissan’s latest online content campaign, in which the Swiss Formula E driver Sebastien Buemi will also be present, with both of them driving electric cars in the advertisement.

Speaking at the occasion, Roel de Vries, City Football Group’s Group Chief Operating Officer, said: “City Football Group’s partnership with Nissan made history in 2014 as the first partnership to include multiple CFG Clubs and we’re delighted to extend our relationship once again. Nissan shares our passion for innovation and our aim to excite people, whether that be with world-class football or automotive technology, as it shows in Nissan’s latest campaign. We look forward to continuing to work closely together in and we’re excited by what the partnership may bring next.”

Adding to that, Juan Hoyos, divisional general manager, Global Brand, and Marketing at Nissan, said: “We’re excited to continue our partnership with City Football Group and Pep Guardiola. We look forward to building on the successful developments at our Yokohama F. Marinos football club in Japan as well as leveraging the passion of the City Football Group clubs around the world to connect our brands and bring innovation and excitement to their fans.”

Following this partnership, Nissan will continue to have its high-profile presence at all Manchester City men’s and women’s, New York City FC’s men’s and women’s, Melbourne City FC men’s and women’s, Girona FC’s, and Sichuan Jiuniu FC’s fixtures.
