The National Rugby League (NRL) unit, Canberra Raiders have announced a partnership renewal with the Australian wing of the multinational fast-food chain, McDonald’s Australia.
The new deal has now been extended until the end of the 2027 season. As part of this collaboration extension, the McDonald’s brand will continue to be prominent at home games with branding on the Goal Post Pads, in addition to the Golden Arches on both the NRL and NRLW shorts.
Having partnered with the Canberra Raiders for more than 20 years, Macca’s is thrilled to have been among the first major sponsors of the club’s first-ever NRLW squad, which joined the league in 2023.
Canberra Raiders CEO Don Furner, said, “We’re proud to continue our longstanding partnership with McDonald’s, with their logo featuring on both our NRL and NRLW apparel. The local Macca’s restaurants here in Canberra do a wonderful job in supporting the Club and community initiatives and we look forward to continuing with McDonald’s until at least the end of 2027.”
This collaboration would not be attainable without the kind cooperation of the 23 restaurants in the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding areas that employ over 2,400 members of the local community.
McDonald’s is dedicated to actively participating in local communities by offering jobs, training, and development opportunities and by aiding local causes and groups.
Amanda Nakad, Director of Marketing for McDonald’s Australia, said, “Macca’s has been committed to supporting our people and customers in Canberra since opening our first restaurant over four decades ago. We have partnered with the Canberra Raiders for over 20 years and are excited to extend this partnership until the end of the 2027 season, featuring the iconic Golden Arches on the playing kit for both NRL and NRLW.”
In December 2023, McDonald’s Australia also forged ties with the National Paralympic Committee in Australia for the Paralympic Games, Paralympics Australia. Through this agreement, the fast-food restaurant aims to assist Paralympics Australia’s initiatives to enhance sport accessibility for the 20% of Australians who live with disabilities.
