The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed a record set of European broadcast partnerships for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, underlining the growing global commercial strength of African football’s flagship international competition.

CAF has secured 20 media rights agreements spanning more than 30 European territories, marking the largest and most valuable European broadcast package in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations. The deals significantly expand the tournament’s reach across free-to-air television, pay-TV platforms, and digital streaming services, delivering comprehensive live and on-demand coverage across the continent.

The expanded footprint builds on CAF’s landmark agreement with Channel 4 in the United Kingdom, which marks the first time all 52 AFCON matches will be shown free-to-air in the market. In Spain, CAF has signed a new partnership with Movistar, one of the country’s leading sports broadcasters. The move is expected to drive strong viewership, supported by Spain’s sizeable Moroccan diaspora and deep footballing links between North Africa and Spanish domestic football.

Further expansion includes a new free-to-air agreement with ERT, bringing AFCON back to Greek television screens with nationwide coverage for the first time in several years. The tournament will also be shown free-to-air in Norway for the first time through a new partnership with VGTV.

CAF has also renewed and strengthened relationships in markets that delivered strong audiences during the previous edition. Broadcasters such as Sport Italia in Italy and Ziggo Sport in the Netherlands are expected to generate further audience growth, supported by large Moroccan communities and the presence of Moroccan players in European leagues. In the DACH region, SportDigital will continue to deliver coverage across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Although financial terms were not disclosed, CAF confirmed the agreements represent a significant uplift on previous AFCON broadcast cycles, driven by increased competition among European broadcasters and rising international demand for African national team football. The deals were concluded in partnership with IMG, CAF’s international media rights and sponsorship partner.

The record European broadcast expansion forms part of CAF’s broader commercial strategy to elevate the global positioning of the Africa Cup of Nations and deliver increased value to partners, including title sponsor TotalEnergies, alongside Visa, Danone, Midea, Suzuki, KONAMI, Royal Air Maroc, and ONCF. Greater visibility in premium media markets is expected to support long-term broadcast revenues and sustained international audience growth.

The opening match of AFCON Morocco 2025 was broadcast across 180 territories worldwide, including new markets in Japan, South Korea, Mexico, and 18 European countries. With global demand for match tickets at record levels, CAF expects viewership figures to continue rising as the tournament delivers high-end broadcast production, full stadiums, and elite footballing talent.

The 2025 edition marks the 35th staging of Africa’s premier men’s national team competition, first held in 1957, and represents Morocco’s return as host for the first time since 1988. In India, the tournament is available to viewers via FanCode.
