Cadbury set to sponsor Australian Women’s Cricket team

Cadbury becomes the latest brand to show support for women’s cricket in Australia. The iconic chocolate brand has signed a deal with the current T20 World Cup Champions to become their support partners.

The partnership comes into the picture on the back of a landmark year for the women’s team in Australia, as they defended the T20 World Cup title against India in front of a record 86, 174 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in March 2020.

The partnership with Cricket Australia is part of Cadbury’s National Women in Sport initiative, which also involves partnerships with AFLW, NRLW, and the Matildas.

This deal intends to showcase progressive, diverse, and positive female athletes across different sports in Australia that are role models for young girls in the country.

Along with three other athletes, Tayla Vlaeminck, one Australia’s most exciting talents in cricket, is partnering with Cadbury to support the growth of women in sport and inspire young girls to keep playing sport beyond the age of 15.

Meg Lanning, Australia captain, said, “To have such an iconic brand like CADBURY supporting the team and women’s sport more broadly is really exciting and we look forward to working with them to help encourage more girls to pick up a bat and ball.”

Lanning admitted, “We’ve been lucky enough to have the support of the Commonwealth Bank for over a decade, and to now have CADBURY on board too, we’re confident we can take the women’s game to a new level.”
