BWT Alpine F1 Team, owned by the French automotive company Groupe Renault alongside the Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance, has announced a new partnership with the German luxury brand, Mercedes-Benz.
This multi-year agreement, set to commence with the FIA Formula One World Championship 2026, sees Mercedes-Benz supply Alpine with state-of-the-art power units and gearboxes through at least 2030, aligning with the upcoming Formula 1 regulation era.
Under the agreement, Alpine will transition from a works team to a customer team, gaining access to Mercedes’ renowned power unit technology. This shift positions Alpine to remain competitive at the highest level of the sport as power unit performance becomes an increasingly vital component under the new rules. In return, Mercedes strengthens its influence in F1 by expanding its customer base, which currently includes Aston Martin, McLaren, and Williams.
While Alpine will no longer develop its own power unit, the team remains committed to developing its chassis and other components in-house. This combined approach, leveraging Mercedes’ power unit expertise and Alpine’s chassis development capabilities, aims to create a formidable package and challenge the dominance of other top teams.
This strategic alliance between Alpine and Mercedes-Benz is poised to shape the future of Formula 1, with both teams eager to achieve success on the track.
For Mercedes-Benz, a storied name in luxury and performance, this partnership aligns with its longstanding tradition of automotive innovation. Known for its signature three-pointed star, Mercedes has led advancements in both internal combustion and electric vehicles, making it a powerful force in motorsports as well. The German manufacturer’s Formula 1 legacy continues through its Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, and by expanding its partnerships, it further establishes itself as a central figure in the championship’s competitive landscape.
Alpine, on a strong momentum in 2024, recently announced partnerships with Shamir, INFINOX, and Hytro’s BFR wearables, enhancing its team’s profile and resources. The team also celebrated a remarkable double podium finish at the São Paulo Grand Prix, pushing them to sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship. With only three races remaining, Alpine aims to build on this momentum, heading next to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, scheduled for November 22-24.
This new alliance between Alpine and Mercedes-Benz is set to make waves in Formula 1, shaping the competitive dynamics for years to come as both teams strive for success on the world stage.
