Bwin secures sponsorship extensions with five German clubs

The club agreements will typically include matchday tips, offers and betting odds integration on club platforms.

Online sports betting operator Bwin has renewed its sponsorship deal with five German football clubs including Borussia Dortmund, Union Berlin, Cologne from Bundesliga, St. Pauli and Dynamo Dresden from Bundesliga Division 2.

Bwin, a part of global sports betting and gaming group Entain, will be the exclusive sports betting partner to all five teams until the end of the 2023-24 season. The club agreements will typically include matchday tips, offers and betting odds integration on club platforms.

Stephan Heilmann, Managing Director of Digital Europe Entain, said: “It’s a great honour for us to continue our long-term partnership with these long-standing clubs. Our sponsorships underline the importance of the fans and the passion for football. Authenticity is a top priority for Bwin, just as it is for our five partner clubs. We’re therefore delighted to be maintaining our close partnership with them over the next three years.”

The company believes that the deals reflect the parent group’s ambition for its global brands to be part of the sporting experiences enjoyed by customers at all levels.

Bwin is also the ‘Official Sports Betting Partner’ of the German Football Association (DFB), holding sponsorship rights to the DFB Cup and German national teams until December 2022. As a part of that deal, it also sponsors the Women’s Bundesliga and is the main partner of 3. Liga, the men’s third division, until summer 2022.

Bwin has a diversified sponsorship portfolio outside of Germany as well. Bwin is the sponsor of the Spanish La Liga club Valencia and a regional partner of the Spanish teams in basketball’s Euro League. In Portugal, Bwin will be the title sponsor of the Portuguese national football league from the next season, while, in Greece, Bwin is the sponsor of Olympiacos and a regional partner in basketball’s EuroLeague. In Belgium, Bwin is a sponsor of football’s Jupiler Pro League.
