Burnley Football Club also known as ‘Clarets’ has taken a big step towards promoting its women’s team by striking a multi-year live-streaming deal with Chinese social media app TikTok. As part of the deal, TikTok will live stream games of Burnley FC Women and will also be their sleeve sponsor.
This move by Burnley FC is a tremendous step towards emphasizing the football planning and management of their women’s team. This deal will see the club join hands with football content creators who will help the players of the women’s team to develop their profiles on the social media platform. Earlier in February, Burnley FC discussed the possibility of laying more emphasis on the other teams of the club as well, which included the women’s team youth teams. Further, the club is also looking to make all of its teams play with the same crest. Hence, not be treated separately.
Burnley FC Chairman, Alan Pace said, “This is a hugely exciting partnership and another first for Burnley Football Club. Innovation is a key component to our plans at Burnley and this partnership with a fantastic, progressive brand like TikTok completely fits into our vision for the club’s future and embracing digital audiences. Growing our presence in women’s football was an early goal when taking over the club and this is the latest step towards that.”
By landing this deal the club has made a great start to their ambitions of reaching the FA Women’s Championship by 2025. This will allow the club to build on the idea of building a global fanbase and thereby increasing the reach of the club’s sporting and commercial values.
Arthur Guisasola, Strategic Partner Manager at Sport TikTok, also shared his happiness towards the deal and said, “We are thrilled to announce this unique partnership with Burnley FC Women. Burnley FC Women will become the first football team in the UK to live stream their home matches on TikTok. This partnership with Burnley will give football fans access to the home matches and exclusive content from the Burnley FC Women’s team; following their journey during what promises to be an exciting season.”
This particular deal enforces more importance to women’s football and will further help them gain more recognition which they rightfully deserve. It will also help provide a strong endorsement and push towards the right direction for the betterment of the club and football in general.
