The Bundesliga and EA SPORTS FC have extended their long-standing partnership, taking a relationship that dates back to 1998 into a broader phase focused on gaming, digital engagement, data and emerging technology.

The extension, announced during Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, will continue to bring the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 to EA SPORTS FC’s global gaming ecosystem. The competitions will feature across EA SPORTS FC 27, FC Mobile and FC Online, with authentic clubs, players, kits, branding and stadiums continuing to form part of the experience.

However, the renewed agreement extends beyond traditional videogame licensing. The Bundesliga and EA SPORTS FC will collaborate on digital content, intellectual property and emerging technologies, while TRACAB’s football data and tracking capabilities will contribute to the expanded partnership.

The companies will also explore new fan-engagement opportunities through the EA SPORTS App, creating additional digital touchpoints between Bundesliga clubs, competitions and supporters worldwide.

Peer Naubert, Chief Commercial Officer and Member of the Management Board of Bundesliga Media, said, “Since 1998, EA SPORTS and the Bundesliga have built one of the most enduring and successful partnerships in global sports and entertainment, united by trust, innovation and a shared commitment to fans. As football fandom continues to evolve, we are excited to build on that legacy and create new ways for millions of supporters worldwide to experience and engage with the iconic clubs of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2.”

Nick Wlodyka, SVP and Group GM, EA SPORTS FC, added, “For nearly three decades, our partnership with the Bundesliga has brought German football closer to millions of players around the world. We’re excited to continue this journey together, from bringing the Bundesliga to life in EA SPORTS FC 27, FC Mobile, and FC Online to creating opportunities for the next generation to connect with the game beyond the pitch. It’s a partnership that reflects what The World’s Game is all about, and we look forward to building on that connection for years to come.”

EA SPORTS FC will also retain its relationship with the Virtual Bundesliga, the Bundesliga’s official esports competition, while continuing as presenting partner of the Bundesliga Player of the Month and Player of the Season awards.

The agreement underscores the growing strategic role of gaming within football’s commercial ecosystem. For the Bundesliga, the partnership provides a global platform to engage younger and international audiences beyond traditional broadcast and matchday environments.

For EA SPORTS FC, continued access to Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 strengthens its portfolio of elite football properties while creating opportunities to connect authentic football data, esports and digital experiences with its global gaming audience.

The extension ultimately positions the relationship as more than a licensing arrangement, reflecting the increasing convergence of football, gaming, data and digital fan engagement.
