The United Kingdom-based television channel, BT Sport has got exclusive rights in the UK and Ireland for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
BT Sport locked a deal with the media group, Disney Star, which has the global rights to the property under the authority of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Star’s rights include all the home matches of the Indian team in a five-year contract, from 2018-19 to 2022-23.
The UK-based media group currently has media rights to Cricket Australia (CA) in the UK in a four-year deal, from 2021-22 to 2024-25. The group also has the rights to the DP World ILT20 and the upcoming England tour of New Zealand.
The much-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy is all set to start on February 9, with Nagpur hosting the first Test. New Delhi will contest the second Test starting on February 17. The picturesque Dharamshala will be hosting the third Test from March 1 and Ahmedabad will helm the final Test from March 9.
