Brighton & Hove Albion partner with UNICEF to champion child wellbeing

Together, Brighton and UNICEF will co-create an advisory toolkit to elevate best practices in sports coaching for children.

The Premier League (PL) club, Brighton & Hove Albion (BHA), have announced a three-year partnership with UNICEF, the world’s leading children’s rights organization.

This strategic alliance has united their shared passion for leveraging football’s power to drive positive social change and improve the lives of children globally.

Brighton’s commitment extend beyond financial support. The partnership will see a substantial financial contribution bolstering UNICEF’s critical efforts to deliver aid and resources to children in need worldwide. More importantly, it establishes a long-term initiative that merges Seagulls’ football expertise with UNICEF. Together, they’ll co-create an advisory toolkit to elevate best practices in sports coaching for children.

Commenting on the partnership, Paul Barber, Chief Executive & Deputy Chairman, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be a partner of UNICEF.

“We are proud and humble that we clearly share many core values with UNICEF and that we could help them to deliver some of their incredible programmes across the world.

“We feel privileged to be supporting such an important organization, to create and amplify best practices in football coaching for children and we are excited about what we can achieve together over the next three years.”

UNICEF UK Chief Partnerships Officer, Mohini Raichura-Brown, added, “Every child deserves to enjoy a happy, healthy, and safe childhood, but global crises like conflict, disease, and climate change are increasingly endangering the lives of children worldwide.

“We are delighted to announce our three-year partnership with Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club, which will support UNICEF in its mission to transform the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children. With Brighton & Hove Albion’s generous support, we can scale up our efforts to support the wellbeing of children everywhere.”

This partnership underscores Brighton’s commitment to social responsibility, using its platform to advocate for vulnerable populations and drive positive change. Together with UNICEF, they aim to create a lasting impact on the lives of children around the world.

UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, champions child well-being in over 190 countries. UNICEF tirelessly provides essential resources like healthcare, education, and clean water. From emergency response to long-term development, UNICEF advocates for children’s rights and empowers them to reach their full potential. Recently, the global child welfare organization partnered with the video game giant Electronic Arts to launch the “Namibia Futures” project under the EA Sports FC Futures initiative.
