The Premier League (PL) club, Brighton & Hove Albion have announced a new partnership with the local upcycling innovators, FC88.
The collaboration aims to reduce waste within the football industry and promote sustainable fashion.
FC88, based in Brighton, specialises in transforming discarded football apparel into unique and stylish products. By utilising leftover shirts, jackets, and shorts, the company creates one-of-a-kind items that are both fashionable and environmentally friendly.
The partnership aligns with the Seagulls’ commitment to social responsibility and environmental sustainability. By supporting upcycling initiatives, the club hopes to set an example for other teams in the football industry.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase upcycled products featuring Brighton & Hove Albion branding. Each item will be handcrafted and unique, offering a sustainable and personalised way to support the club.
Nicole Bekkers, Founder & CEO of FC88, highlighted the importance of local production and said, “What makes this collaboration between Brighton & Hove Albion and FC88 so special is the hands-on approach at every stage. Everything has been carefully crafted in Brighton, giving the collection a distinct local flavour and a unique story behind every piece. The upcycling atelier is just two miles down the road from the club.”
“Each upcycled item is more than just a product; it’s a testament to the creativity and talent of Brighton’s local craftspeople. Fans will be wearing a piece of the city’s heart and soul with every item in this collection.”
Tom Harris, Brighton & Hove Albion Sustainability Manager, added, “The club are committed to finding innovative and sustainable solutions that will reduce our environmental impact and inspire our fans. Not only are these new products made from material that would otherwise be waste, but they are produced in Brighton, supporting the local economy and resulting in fewer emissions from transportation”.
The Seagulls are making waves in the Premier League, showcasing impressive form and a promising future. Their consistent performances have positioned them at ninth place with two wins, three draws and one loss. Their October fixtures include matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The club will also be in action in the round of 16 tie in the Carabao Cup against Liverpool.
