Borussia Dortmund collaborates with Horizm to manage digital assets

German footballing giants, Borussia Dortmund have announced a new partnership with Horizm, making the Bundesliga club the first to use the artificial intelligence platform to manage their digital assets.

The Black and Yellows have a massive social media following of 24 million on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The team has a global reach with fans supporting the club as far as from Asian and South Asian countries. The deal with Horizm will provide Dortmund AI-powered insights and analytics tools to help them identify new commercial opportunities within the club’s digital portfolio.

With this deal, the Horizm added another big European club to its roster of partners. The company is already in partnership with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea. Apart from football, Horizm has also partnered with the Australian Open, Cricket West Indies (CWI) and English top-flight rugby club Saracens.

Alexander Muhl, head of digital, innovation and business at Borussia Dortmund, said: “Understanding the performance and reach of content on our digital channels is crucial to how we connect with our millions of fans worldwide but also to spot and analyse commercial opportunities. We are always on the lookout for innovations that help us improve on these fields and this new agreement with Horizm, will give us a better picture of the digital relationship we have with our fans and enable us to deliver more value for partners.”

The off-field projects and partnerships have certainly guided the club in the right direction while the team is also doing well on-field. Marco Rose despite all the summer speculations of their key players leaving the team have formed a good group and managed them to a successful outing in the Bundesliga and Champions League so far. They sit second in the league table and the group table of the Bundesliga and the Champions League respectively.
