Borussia Dortmund announce new partnerships ahead of UCL final for continued growth

Rheinmetall has joined BVB as a champion partner, while KOBLER extended the Southeast Asian partnership.

The Bundesliga club, Borussia Dortmund (BVB) have announced two new partnerships, one domestic and one focused on the Southeast Asian market.

  • Rheinmetall joins as champion partner

Die Schwarzgelben have secured a three-year deal with Rheinmetall, a leading German defence contractor.

The agreement designates Rheinmetall as a champion partner, granting the arms manufacturers extensive advertising and marketing rights within the stadium and across club grounds.

The Rheinmetall logo will be featured for the first time during BVB’s preparation for the upcoming UEFA Champions League final.

Chairman of Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, said, “Security and defence are fundamental cornerstones of our democracy. That is why we believe it is the right decision to take a very close look at how we protect these cornerstones. Especially today, when we see every day how freedom must be defended in Europe. We should deal with this new normality. We are looking forward to the partnership with Rheinmetall and, as Borussia Dortmund, are consciously opening ourselves up to a dialogue.”

Armin Papperger, Chief Executive Officer of Rheinmetall AG, added, “This move will bring together BVB and Rheinmetall, two partners with similar ambitions, attitudes and origins. BVB is a club from the heart of North Rhine-Westphalia and, more than nearly anyone else, it represents the pursuit of excellence and international success. Rheinmetall has deep roots in the metropolitan Rhine-Ruhr region and wishes for its brand to be better known internationally too as a leading systems supplier for the defence industry and as a driver of industrial innovations on civilian markets.”

  • KOBLER extends Southeast Asian partnership

Der BVB have also extended their regional partnership with KOBLER, a quartz flooring company. This agreement, focused on Southeast Asia, will continue for the 2024/25 season with the possibility of further renewal.

The partnership highlights KOBLER’s commitment to football development in the region. The flooring company will receive prominent brand exposure during select BVB home game broadcasts across Southeast Asia, along with intellectual property rights to utilize BVB logos and player images for marketing purposes.

Mr Toan Vu, Chief Marketing Officer of KOBLER Vietnam, said, “KOBLER chose to partner with BVB because we share the same values of excellence and long German heritage that’s well-known and loved worldwide. We are proud to become a regional partner of BVB in Vietnam. With this cooperation, BVB and KOBLER expect to bring German values and the spirit of dedication to global enthusiasts, while also setting a new milestone for both brands in East Asia particularly the Vietnam market, where KOBLER has established a strong market presence through its unique quartz flooring solutions.”

Carsten Cramer, BVB Managing Director, adds, “We are happy to announce KOBLER as our first commercial partner in Vietnam, one of our target markets. The partnership stems from similar values that both brands aim for Success and reliability are shared values.”

The 2024 UCL final is set for an epic clash between BVB and Real Madrid CF on June 2 at 12:30 AM IST at the Wembley Stadium in London. Die Borussen, seeking their second Champions League title, will face the challenge of 14-time champion, Los Blancos.
