BMW Group India has confirmed the return of the BMW Golf Cup 2026, unveiling the largest and most expansive edition of the amateur tournament ever staged in the country. The upcoming season will span 13 cities and 19 qualifying tournaments, marking a significant scale-up and reinforcing BMW’s long-standing commitment to amateur golf development in India.
Scheduled to run from January to October 2026, the tournament is expected to attract more than 2,200 amateur golfers, making it the most comprehensive BMW Golf Cup edition in the Indian market to date. The expanded format reflects a deliberate push to widen participation beyond traditional metropolitan centres and strengthen engagement with golf communities across the country.
The 2026 circuit will be hosted at leading golf courses across Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Gurugram, Vadodara, Jaipur, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Patna, and Kolkata, offering players access to some of India’s most established and emerging golfing venues.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr Hardeep Singh Brar, President & CEO, BMW Group India, said, “The BMW Golf Cup is more than a tournament; it’s an expression of our commitment to sporting excellence, community, and memorable experiences for our customers and patrons of the sport. In 2026, we are widening the footprint, deepening grassroots engagement, and elevating the experience for players and guests alike. We look forward to welcoming new generations of golfers across India to compete, network, and celebrate the unifying spirit of the sport.”
Globally, the BMW Golf Cup is recognised as one of the world’s largest amateur golf tournament series. Its origins date back over 25 years to the United Kingdom, where it began as the BMW Invitation Tournament before evolving into an international programme. Today, the series features approximately 1,000 qualifying tournaments, involving close to 100,000 players across nearly 40 countries. National champions progress to the BMW Golf Cup World Final, where individual titles are contested across multiple categories.
In India, the BMW Golf Cup 2026 will be contested across two handicap categories: Category A for players with handicaps up to 12, and Category B for handicaps ranging from 13 to 28. Winners from each qualifying event will advance to the National Final, with the top performers in both categories earning the opportunity to represent India at the BMW Golf Cup World Final.
The 2026 edition will once again be supported by a lineup of premium partners, including Omega, Etihad Airways, TaylorMade, Ballantine’s and HSBC, further enhancing the competitive standards and hospitality experience associated with the tournament.
With its increased scale, wider geographic reach and clear pathway from national qualifiers to global competition, the BMW Golf Cup 2026 strengthens BMW Group India’s positioning of golf as a core brand pillar, combining sport, lifestyle and premium customer engagement on a national stage.
