Birmingham 2022 adds three new sponsors

The number of Official Providers in the third tier of the Birmingham 2022 sponsorship portfolio now stands at 15.

Commonwealth Games‘ preparation in Birmingham heats up as the organisers have added three new sponsors.

MTD, a temporary water solutions specialist, has been appointed as the event’s Official Temporary Water Infrastructure Provider. The firm will take care of the design, application, maintenance, and dismantling of every water installation at the competition, non-competition, and training venues, as well as the three athlete villages.

Hans Verhoeven, managing director of MTD Group, said, “For MTD, sharing knowledge will be our legacy, and this is embedded in our DNA. Secondly, we are very happy that we can help Birmingham 2022 with its sustainability objectives. We will demonstrate our sustainable water initiatives, including our real-time monitoring and digital data management with the Commonwealth community.”

SLX, a hire and events company, has also joined the Birmingham 2022 sponsorship portfolio as an Official Provider. The event company will provide the sports and broadcast lighting package. This will see SLX offer over 2,000 LED fixtures throughout the event.

The number of Official Providers in the third tier of the Birmingham 2022 sponsorship portfolio now stands at 15, with the addition of MTD and SLX.

OCS Group UK, software and solutions provider Wiz-Team, event management solutions firm EventsAIR, audiovisual services company Sports Technology, and radio provider Riedel Communications were the five sponsors added to the tier in November.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise announced a strategic partnership with Birmingham 2022 in October. Longines and the University of Birmingham are at the top of the portfolio’s tier.

The organisers have also added Butterfly as an Official Supplier of the table tennis equipment to the list of suppliers supporting the games. Butterfly will provide its table tennis table and balls through the distributor Ransome Sporting Goods.

Alastair Henderson, head of sponsor services at Birmingham 2022, said, “Our sponsors play a pivotal role in making Birmingham 2022 an outstanding Games, each bringing a high level of proficiency and expertise to create an unforgettable display of sport and culture.”

Birmingham 2022 will take place in the summer of 2022, it will begin on July 28 and last until August 8.
