Ben Duckett extends contract with Nottinghamshire

English Test cricketer, Ben Duckett signs a new contract deal with his county side Nottinghamshire. The announcement came on November 25, when the county announced that opening batsman will stay with them until 2023. The batsman joined Nottinghamshire first-class side in late 2018, after his transfer from long-term association with Northamptonshire.

The 26-year-old batter guided Nottinghamshire to triumph in this year’s T20 Blast. He scored an unbeaten half-century against Surrey in the finals. During the T20 blast, the left-hander scored vital 340 runs in the 11 matches at an astonishing average of 42.50.

Duckett was Nottinghamshire’s man in the Bob Willis trophy where he scored consistently at an average of 56. The southpaw scored 734 runs for Nottinghamshire in the 2020 season, across the T20 Blast and Bob Willis Trophy. During his last red-ball assignment, the batter twice got into the three-figure mark against Durham and Lancashire.

The consistent run for Ben Duckett for Nottinghamshire came after a tough 2019 season where he averaged just 27 in the County Championship. His team was also relegated to division two after his below-average county season in 2019.

Ben Duckett is excited about his association with Nottingham. After signing new deal, he said, “Coming to Trent Bridge has been everything I wanted it to be and more. We have a group of ambitious cricketers all pulling in the same direction, the support we have from the coaches is second-to-none and I’m hugely excited about what I believe we can achieve in all forms of the game.”

Head Coach, Nottinghamshire congratulated the batter by saying, “Ben should take a lot of credit for sticking to his guns after getting some good balls in the first few games. He backed what he had worked on and went on to become our leading run-scorer in the Bob Willis Trophy.”

The Nottinghamshire batsman has also represented the English side on eight occasions so far. He has played four Tests, three ODIs, and a single T20I for England. Duckett has managed to score three half centuries during these appearances for the national team.
