BCCI signs sponsorship extension with BYJU’S: Reports

The sponsorship contract between the two entities was set to conclude after the ongoing Sri Lanka tour of India.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised to extend the jersey sponsorship of the Indian team with BYJU’S.

The sponsorship contract between the two entities was set to conclude after the ongoing Sri Lanka tour of India, which consists of three T20Is and two Tests.

According to Cricbuzz, the Indian cricket governing body has renewed its association with the Bangalore-based multinational educational tech company.

BYJU’S joined hands with the BCCI as the team’s jersey sponsor in September 2019 after replacing Oppo. The BCCI has been receiving INR 4.61 crore for a bilateral series while INR 1.56 crore for an international game from BYJU’S.

The BCCI had said in a statement in May 2019, “BYJU’S will be taking over all obligations of the current team sponsor OPPO mobiles India private limited. The BCCI is pleased to welcome India’s leading education and learning app BYJU’S as the official Team India sponsor from 5th September 2019 until 31st March 2022.”

Currently, the BCCI is preparing for the highly anticipated Indian Premier League 2022, which commences from March 26. The first match will be played between the previous edition’s finalists, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium. With the inclusion of two new teams and an overwhelming mega auction, the build-up for the IPL 2022 has commenced on the right note.
