The Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batsman, Mushfiqur Rahman has been fined 25 percent of his match fees by Bangladesh Cricket Board for on-field misbehavior. The keeper-batsman was found misbehaving twice during the Eliminator of Bangabandhu T20 Cup 2020.
In the knockout game of the T20 Cup, Beximco Dhaka’s skipper Rahim showcased misbehavior twice in the match with his teammate Nasum Ahmed. The first instance occurred in the 13th over when the captain gave Nasum an angry steer during misfield and then in the 17th over, he threatened to punch the youngster when the duo went for the same catch.
The wicket-keeper batsman was found guilty of showing an insulting gesture towards Ahmed during the match against Fortune Barishal, which constitutes a Level 1 (2.6) Offence. The breach of code of conduct was reported by on-field umpires Gazi Sohel and Mahfuzur Rahman with inputs from third umpire Masudul Rahman Mukul and fourth umpire Muzahiduzzaman Swapon. The penalty was imposed by the Match Referee ASM Roquibul Hassan.
There would be no official hearing arranged by Bangladesh Cricket Board as Mushfiqur Rahman accepted the sanction. He didn’t apologize at the post-match presentation. After the game, he issued a public apology on his Facebook page and said he seeks forgiveness for his unacceptable gesture towards his teammate Nasum Ahmed.
