BBL: Perth Scorchers extends contract of Mitchell Marsh until 2025

Australian fast bowling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh signs a long-term deal with his Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Perth Scorchers. The franchise reached an agreement with Marsh for a four-year deal until 2025. The new contract will stretch Marsh’s stay at Scorchers for 14 seasons.

Marsh got associated with the franchise since the inception of BBL. He has been part of three title triumphs with the Scorchers during his ten years at the club. Marsh also captained the side for a brief period in 2018 before being replaced by Ashton Turner.

Marsh was delighted after putting pen to paper of his new contract at Perth Scorchers. He said, “I am a very proud West Australian, I love representing the Scorchers and playing in front of our home crowds in Perth. We’ve been a very successful club over a long period of time, the support we get from our fans is incredible, so it was an easy decision to sign on for another four years.”

The new deal will squash the speculation surrounding his future and allow him to play with much more freedom. The Australian all-rounder has been in fine form this season, averaging 46.75 in tournament with an outstanding strike rate of 143. Fast bowling all-rounders are prized assets in T-20 cricket, so Perth Scorchers has pulled a massive coup by extending deal of Marsh. Over the years, Marsh has gained the reputation of a T20 specialist by playing 101 games across various leagues on the planet.

Scorchers coach Adam Voges also heaped praise on Marsh. He said, “He’s an important player and we’ve seen over the past a couple of games how much influence he has in matches. We know how proud and passionate Mitch is about playing for the Scorchers, he brings a wealth of talent and experience to our team and is a much-loved member of our squad.”
