BBL 2020/21: Melbourne Renegades signs Imad Wasim for second half of the season

Big Bash League franchise, Melbourne Renegades has signed Pakistan star all-rounder Imad Wasim for the second half of the 2020/21 season. The T20 specialist from Pakistan will join his new franchise after the New Zealand T20I series.

Wasim would join Renegades on December 26 after the completion of the T20I series. The Pakistani all-rounder won’t have to go in quarantine before joining the BBL’s bio-bubble due to the Covid-19 travel agreement between Australia and New Zealand.

The 31-year-old will be one of the foreign prospects for the Melbourne campaign. He would accompany Imran Tahir, Rilee Rossouw, Mohammad Nabi, and the budding Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad in the foreign roaster.

After the all-rounder’s inclusion, Renegades coach Michael Klinger said, “Imad is one of the best T20 players in the world with his ability to impact games with the ball and to finish the innings with the bat. He’s an experienced player with a recent title success, he’s capable of bowling in the powerplay and he’ll strengthen our middle-order batting.”

Imad has been representing his nation since 2015. He has played 55 One-days and 47 T20 Internationals for Pakistan. Moreover, Imad recently led Karachi Kings to the maiden title in the PSL and he has also featured in 11 games for Nottinghamshire in the T20 Blast.

Imad is currently in New Zealand serving his 14-day quarantine before Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand. The two teams are supposed to play three T20 Internationals and two tests. The tour kickstarts from December 18.
