The Bundesliga champions, FC Bayern Munich have announced the signing of the Juventus centre-back player, Matthijs de Ligt for a transfer fee of €80 million. The Serie A club is guaranteed €70 million, with the add-ons being confirmed.
After a day of talks between the clubs, a deal was reached, and De Ligt, who has agreed on personal terms, has signed a contract until 2027.
Bayern Munich’s transfer record of €80 million is similar to when the Munich-based club paid to the LaLiga club, Atlético Madrid for Lucas Hernández. The German champions increased their pursuit of De Ligt after selling striker Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona for a fee of €50 million.
De Ligt was acquired by Juventus from AFC Ajax in 2019 and has played 117 times for the club. He was also wanted by the Premier League club, Chelsea FC but the CB always had only Bayern in his mind. After midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, the 22-year-old is now the second Netherlands international to join Bayern this summer.
Bayern has also signed Sadio Mané from Liverpool and Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax.
