Bayer Leverkusen signs Floki as new sleeve partner

Floki has replaced the fan engagement platform Iqoniq.

The Bundesliga outfit, Bayer Leverkusen have announced a new deal with the meme-themed coin, Floki as the new sleeve sponsor. The deal will have Floki’s logo featured on the club’s jersey’s sleeve.

Floki has replaced the fan engagement platform Iqoniq for the role despite having signed a three-year contract with the club, including sleeve sponsorship rights, in July.

Iqoniq had signed deals with many football clubs but failed to unveil their application as per the agreement. It was due to launch in 2021 which is still not done. The brand had bagged the sleeve sponsorship rights of Ligue 1 clubs, AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille as well. Real Sociedad from LaLiga had signed the ‘front-of-shirt’ deal but now it has been terminated.

Floki’s logo has already featured on Bayer Leverkusen’s jersey on December 4 during their 7-1 win over Greuther Fürth. The contract will last until the end of the 2021-22 season.

The agreement also includes Floki to get LED advertising rights during matchdays on Bayer’s home games at BayArena stadium. The promotions will be done on the club’s official media websites as well.

Dr. Bernd Schröder, director of marketing and sales at Bayer Leverkusen, said, “We are pleased to have found an innovative partner in Floki, with whom Bayer 04 can further develop our international marketing activities with digital products based on blockchain technologies.”

Bayer Leverkusen’s next match will be against Ferencvaros in a UEFA Europa League fixture on December 10. Leverkusen has already advanced to the knockout stage of the league.
