The Global Chess League, the franchise-based chess competition launched by Tech Mahindra, has announced a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing arm of Amazon, ahead of the league’s third season.

Under the agreement, AWS has been appointed as the league’s official cloud and smart broadcasting partner for Season 3. The collaboration will support live production workflows, real-time data processing, and fan-facing digital experiences, as the Global Chess League continues to scale its broadcast and digital footprint globally.

AWS will provide the cloud infrastructure that underpins the league’s live broadcast operations. This includes real-time data ingestion, low-latency processing, and the scalable distribution of match content across broadcast and digital platforms. The cloud-led setup will allow the league to manage multiple live boards, camera feeds, and data streams simultaneously, while ensuring consistency and reliability across international markets.

Peeyush Dubey, Chairperson, Tech Mahindra Global Chess League, said, “Every move in chess is about foresight, precision, and timing, and those same principles guide how we run this league. Collaborating with AWS allows us to build a smart broadcasting backbone that mirrors the intelligence of the game itself. Together, we’re setting a new standard for how sport and technology can work in perfect synchrony.”

A central pillar of the partnership is the integration of AWS analytics and machine learning services into live coverage. These tools will generate real-time insights, including move evaluations, probability shifts, player momentum indicators, and time-management analysis. The insights will be embedded directly into broadcasts and digital streams, enabling viewers to follow the flow of the game more intuitively as matches unfold.

The smart broadcasting framework is designed to make chess more accessible to new and casual audiences, while preserving analytical depth for experienced fans. By translating complex in-game data into clear, visual storytelling elements, the league aims to bridge the gap between elite-level chess and mainstream sports consumption.

From an operational standpoint, the cloud-based production model reduces on-site technical requirements and provides greater flexibility for live delivery. It also enables the league to scale its broadcast output efficiently as audience demand and international reach continue to grow.

For AWS, the partnership adds another global sports property to its expanding portfolio of cloud-powered collaborations, which includes organisations such as the NBA, the DP World Tour, UEFA Women’s Football, West Ham United, and Ferrari. AWS has increasingly positioned its cloud, analytics, and machine learning capabilities as tools that enhance live storytelling, operational efficiency, and fan engagement across sport and entertainment.

The agreement comes as the Global Chess League continues to position itself as an entertainment-led sports property, combining elite chess talent with team-based formats, fast-paced matches, and broadcast-friendly presentation. Season 3 is expected to place a stronger emphasis on digital-first viewing, interactive features, and immersive fan experiences.

AWS joins BMC Helix and Google Cloud as official partners for the Global Chess League’s third season, reinforcing the league’s technology-led approach to modernising chess broadcasting.

As sports properties across disciplines adopt cloud-led production and data-driven storytelling, the collaboration between the Global Chess League and AWS underscores how technology is reshaping the way chess is presented and consumed by a global audience.
