Australian cricketer Nathan Ellis reportedly lands IPL contract

Nathan Ellis becomes the first player ever to take a hat-trick on his T20 international debut.

Australian cricketer Nathan Ellis has reportedly bagged himself an IPL contract, the 26-year-old made his international debut against Bangladesh earlier this month.

In the T20I match against Bangladesh, he became the first player ever to take a hat-trick on his T20 international debut.

The excellent performance saw him being named in the Australian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup which is scheduled to be held in October.

Cricket Australia’s chief selector, George Bailey said, “It’s a great story of perseverance and commitment to the cause. In terms of what you’re after from those reserves and knowing we can’t carry that many of them, you want someone who can cover as many bases as you can, particularly in T20 and the distinct roles of bowling with the newer ball and finishing off at the death. We feel like Nathan covers those bases really well. He gives it his absolute all, he’s a terrific team man to have with the group and someone we see as having a really strong future in the Australian colored clothing.”

Following his spectacular performance in his debut game and inclusion in the upcoming T20 World Cup, the Aussie cricketer also managed to pocket an IPL contract for himself. Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals are reportedly the suitors who will be bidding for the 26-year-old.

Phase 2 of IPL 2021 is all set to begin from 19th September in the UAE, Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings in the first fixture.
