India have qualified for the super four round with this win and will await with Afghanistan for more two teams to join.

In the fourth match of the Asia Cup 2022, India defeated Hong Kong by 40 runs at the Dubai International stadium in Dubai, UAE.

Hong Kong captain, Nizakhat Khan won the toss and elected to bowl first. Both the Indian openers, Rohit Sharma (21) and KL Rahul (36) got a brilliant and comfortable start to the inning which was later advanced by Virat Kohli (59*). Although all three batters performed well, the runs of the scoreboard was not that impressive. The run rate on which India were playing needed some push which was powered by Suryakumar Yadav (68*). The Mumbai based batsman hammered a half-century in just 26 deliveries which included six fours and six sixes. This innings of Suryakumar led the Men in Blue to reach a massive total of 192/2 in 20 overs.

While chasing, even the Hong Kong batters looked impressive. Babar Hayat (41) scored valuable runs at the start which was then followed by Kinchit Shah’s incredible performance (30). Even at the end, Zeeshan Ali (26) and Scott Mckechnie (16) also added some runs which brought Honk Kong close to the total. To give a perspective, Hong Kong’s inning was similar to India’s just without Suryakumar Yadav’s contribution.

With the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Avesh Khan scaled one wicket each in the second innings.

For Hong Kong, it was just Ayush Shukla and Mohammad Ghazanfar who got a wicket each.

Suryakumar Yadav was adjudged Man of the Match for his amazing batting display. India have qualified for the super four round with this win and will await with Afghanistan for more two teams to join.
