Anthony Joshua inks a new agreement with DAZN

The international broadcast deal with DAZN is worth a nine-figure amount.

Anthony Joshua has signed a multi-year agreement with DAZN, which would see the British world heavyweight star’s impending showdown with Oleksandr Usyk televised in the United Kingdom.

The international broadcast deal with DAZN is worth a nine-figure amount, that can help Joshua net a huge amount of money over the life of the contract. The agreement’s initial match will be with Usyk in August, where the two heavyweights will battle for the International Boxing Federation (IBF), World Boxing Association (WBA), and World Boxing Organization (WBO) titles in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, for a payout of £100 million (US$120 million).

All of Joshua’s future matches would now be broadcasted on DAZN in the United Kingdom, most likely via the pay-per-view (PPV) channel that the multimedia firm introduced last year under the terms and conditions of this agreement.

Joshua’s DAZN contract officially demands a minimum of two fights per year for a period of up to five years. Joshua will also join DAZN as an investor, a goodwill ambassador and also as a special consultant, with a position on the media firm’s operations board.

Anthony Joshua said, “I am entering a new phase in my career with a new training environment, new coaches and now a new broadcaster.

“Negotiations at this level take time so I am pleased to have it all wrapped up and now I can fully focus on giving the fans and DAZN what they want, knockouts in the glamour division.

“DAZN’s vision and passion to innovate is what attracted me to the partnership. They are leading the digital landscape in sport and the future of sports broadcasting. I am really looking forward to a long and successful partnership.

Shay Segev, Chief Executive of DAZN Group, said, “AJ is a hugely popular and influential sportsman. His alignment with us and his investment in our business speaks volumes. This deal is his seal of approval for our vision and our direction as a business. We welcome his passion, his drive and – most significantly – the vast audiences he attracts.”

Joshua’s agency, Matchroom Boxing, secured a massive international broadcasting contract with DAZN in 2021, but his local region licenses were bound to the UK pay-TV provider Sky Sports until another devastating loss to Usyk at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September the year before. Since May 2018 DAZN has been broadcasting Joshua’s fights in the United States.
