The Indian dairy giant, Amul, has strengthened its presence in international football after signing a sponsorship agreement with the Spain national football team while simultaneously extending its partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) through the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The new agreement sees Amul become the official regional sponsor for India of the Spain national team, marking the cooperative’s first association with La Roja. The partnership adds one of world football’s most successful and marketable national teams to Amul’s growing international sports sponsorship portfolio as brands increasingly look to leverage football’s expanding fan base in India.
At the same time, Amul has renewed its longstanding relationship with Argentina, continuing a partnership that began in 2022. The extension ensures the Indian dairy brand remains associated with the reigning world champions through the next FIFA World Cup cycle. Amul also retains its distinction as the first Indian regional sponsor in the history of Argentine football.
The dual agreements underline the company’s strategy of aligning with globally recognised sporting properties to deepen consumer engagement and strengthen brand visibility beyond its traditional markets. Through its association with Argentina, Amul is expected to continue fan engagement initiatives, limited-edition product packaging and promotional campaigns featuring players from the national team. Similar activations are anticipated as part of its partnership with Spain.
The announcement comes as both nations prepare for their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaigns. Spain, drawn in Group H, opened their tournament with a goalless draw against Cabo Verde and will face Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in their remaining group-stage fixtures as they seek qualification for the knockout rounds.
Argentina, meanwhile, begins the defence of their world title in Group J against Algeria, before taking on Austria and Jordan. Led by one of the strongest squads in international football, Argentina enters the tournament among the favourites to retain the trophy.
For Amul, the partnerships provide access to two of football’s most passionate global fan bases and reinforce the growing role of international football in the marketing strategies of Indian consumer brands.
