Amazon Prime Video India signs broadcasting deal with WNBA

The WNBA features 12 teams providing quality sports entertainment to basketball fans.

Amazon Prime Video has announced a broadcasting deal with the Women’s National Basketball Association also known as the WNBA. The deal will see Prime Video broadcast the WNBA in India with the latest game to start broadcasting from 21st August.

Chaitanya Divan, Amazon Prime Video India spokesperson said, “We are happy to bring the WNBA games to our viewers. We are confident that the world-class, friction-free live experience of the WNBA games on Amazon Prime Video will delight the growing base of basketball fans in India.”

The WNBA features 12 teams providing quality sports entertainment to the basketball fans, with the 25th season underway, fans in India can watch games on Prime Video in India and the missed matches of the season will also be available on the streaming platform in the form of highlights.

Sunny Malik, Head of Global Content and Media Distribution of NBA India said, “We are pleased to offer WNBA games to our fans in India through Amazon Prime Video, the collaboration will provide easy access to the games, expand our visibility and reach in the region and educate fans further about one of the most popular sports leagues in the world.”

The deal comes after a multi-year agreement between Amazon and the WNBA that was signed back in May 2021, giving Prime Video exclusive streaming rights in India to stream some league games each season. The deal marked Prime Video’s first acquisition of exclusive streaming rights in India to a women’s professional sports league.
