Alfa Romeo announces extension with Orlen

The partnership between the two brands has been in the works since 2020.

Formula One team, Alfa Romeo has inked a contract extension with Orlen as their title sponsor for the 2022 season. The new deal will include the team racing under a new name ‘Alfa Romeo Orlen’. The Polish oil refiner brand’s logo will also feature on the car, garages and team wear.

The partnership between the two brands has been in the works since 2020 when Alfa Romeo brought in the Polish driver Robert Kubica as a reserve. Due to this partnership, Orlen has been able to market Alfa Romeo’s brand in Poland. The pair had initiated several brand activations and even hosted the 2021 car launch in Warsaw. Both the parties are in arrangement to have an even more thrilling range of activities for their supporters that will be carried throughout the deal.

The team principal of Alfa Romeo, Frederic Vasseur was pleased to extend the partnership with Orlen for the third year. He said, “Orlen are an instantly recognisable brand in a vast and growing market and they have proven a loyal supporter of the team; their presence underlines and reinforces our resolve to be one of the most attractive teams in the sport for global brands.”

He further added, “Most importantly, we share a commitment to constant improvement, whether on track or in their business, and we are determined to keep growing together. Their activation campaign has been of the first order, reaching fans all over Europe and expanding access to the team and the world of Formula One and we can’t wait to unveil the next stages in this programme.”

It will be a fresh start in 2022 as the team will look to start the season confidently in the battle for the championship. This season, however, will be continued at the brand-new Saudi Arabian Grand Prix circuit in Jedda on December 5.
