The Italian Competition Authority is better known as the AGCM, which is responsible for regulating tournaments in Italy gave the green light to TIM and DAZN after finally granting them the media rights of the Italian top-flight Serie-A.
The deal will see DAZN and Tim share the media rights of the Italian top-flight, the deal was put in contention after an investigation was filed against the deal following Sky network’s consistent complaints.
The danger was averted after DAZN and TIM decided to share the media rights, this decision will stop AGCM from proceeding with the precautionary measures. The league which is scheduled to start from August 21 will see Inter Milan proceed and try to defend their title in the 2020/21 season of Serie A.
AGCM executive stated, “In addition to maintaining full freedom in applying discounts and promotions, DAZN is committed to providing services for viewing the matches on digital terrestrial in case of connection problems. More generally, the assignee of the rights to watch all the matches of the Serie A football championship has guaranteed the use of the service to all users who have installed the DAZN app, regardless of the reference operator, through specific technical initiatives for interconnection with network operators, making the necessary infrastructural investments.”
