The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has announced a sponsorship association with the Spanish sportswear company, KELME for the forthcoming Asian Cup 2023.
Following this development, the brand has been named the official global supporter of the prestigious Asian football event, which is set to be held in Qatar in 2024.
KELME is a well-known Spanish sportswear manufacturer that was established in 1963. The company, headquartered in Elche, Spain, develops and produces sports gear, comprising trousers, shirts, t-shirts, and footwear. Particularly, KELME is a sports brand for the football, tennis, jogging, basketball, and futsal markets.
The AFC Asian Cup 2023 will be the 18th edition of the AFC’s quadrennial international men’s football tournament in Asia. The 24-team event was initially supposed to be held in China from June 16 to July 16, 2023, however, it was subsequently revealed that China cannot host the tournament owing to the covid-19 epidemic and China’s zero-covid policy.
The AFC, later, confirmed that the championship would be staged in Qatar. The tournament is now scheduled to begin on January 12 and will run until February 10, 2024.
The Indian team, led by Sunil Chhetri, has been drawn into Group B, which also consists of Australia, Uzbekistan, and Syria. With a growing love for football in India and the sport’s deserving growth, fans can expect some quality shows from the Blue Tigers.
