The global sportswear giant, Adidas has discontinued its association with the Russian Football Federation following Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

The German brand has been the country’s kit manufacturer since 2008. As the death toll rises in Eastern Europe, the brand has put its agreement on hold with the Russian national team.

In 2020, Adidas generated sales of 584 million euros ($651 million) in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, which is equivalent to 2.9% of its total revenue.

Adidas’ decision of suspending the deal came after Manchester United‘s announcement of concluding their association with the Russian airline company, Aeroflot.

On the other hand, UEFA shifted the Champions League final from St. Petersburg to Paris and also ended their collaboration with the Russian state-owned company, Gazprom.

After imposing a series of sanctions, FIFA finally took a major step of banning Russia from participating in the Qatar World Cup.
