Adidas signs Deepika Padukone as global brand ambassador

Adidas has focused on riding the gaps and diversifying its products and services for women through inspiring personalities.

Sportswear retailing giants Adidas has signed the Bollywood actress, Deepika Padukone as their global brand ambassador. Through this deal, the German sportswear brand will aim to build a strong bond amongst its female shoppers.

Deepika is the latest addition to the already star-studded women roster of Adidas around the globe. Adidas has focused on riding the gaps and diversifying its products and services for women through inspiring personalities. Deepika joins already a dense line-up of female brand ambassadors with Adidas India, which includes the likes of, heavyweight lifter Mirabai Chanu, Boxer Lovlina Borgohain, Nikhat Zareen and Simranjeet Kaur, Sprinter Hima Das and Squash player Dipika Pallikal.

“As a global youth icon and someone who champions mental well-being and personal betterment, Deepika fits in beautifully with the brand’s ambition of creating positive change through sports and movement. We are thrilled to have Deepika join the Adidas family and together we hope to inspire women to see and realize their possibilities,” said Sunil Gupta, senior director, brand Adidas, India.

This announcement comes as Adidas is set to unveil its first flagship store in India. The store has been designed in a manner that products and the experience will encourage movement and support them in their sport and fitness journey. The store will stock the brand’s original designs and will also sell collections from its global collaboration including YEEZY, Adidas by Stella McCartney, Y-3 and IVY Park.

The Indian actress comes from a sporting background, she is the daughter of famous Indian shuttler Prakash Padukone, and she also has played badminton at the national level. Deepika was delighted to partner up with Adidas, she further added: “Today fitness, both physical and emotional, are an integral part of my lifestyle. I am absolutely honoured and delighted to be partnering with one of the world’s most iconic brands, Adidas.”

The actress has been racking in sponsorship deals with global brands. Before this partnership with Adidas recently, Denim retailer Levi’s announced Padukone as its global brand ambassador.
