AC Milan land collaboration with Web 3.0 firm MonkeyLeague

MonkeyLeague enables users to create teams of six NFT characters and engage with other users.

The Serie A outfit, AC Milan, has announced a new sponsorship agreement with a strategy-based web3 esports game, MonkeyLeague. As per the deal, the Web 3.0 firm is set to serve as the Italian club’s non-fungible token (NFT) gaming partner.

MonkeyLeague, which is developed on the Solana blockchain, enables users to create teams of six NFT characters and engage with other users. The game’s financial system revolves around the MonkeyBucks ($MBS) token, but it also includes in-game holdings with high potential beyond the platform.

MonkeyLeague will generate unique Milan-branded wearables, and special game competitions, and operate on co-marketing occurrences such as Rossonieri players testing out the game as part of the collaboration.

Furthermore, MonkeyLeague will now also release a new selection of AC Milan game assets, such as characters, skins, and stadiums, as a result of the latest arrangement. The first drop will be available via auction on the MagicEden NFT marketplace on October 6. The purchasers of select player tokens will also receive numerous signed physical Milan merchandise.

Milan-branded assets will also be produced at irregular intervals by MonkeyLeague’s in-game ‘breeding process,’ along with other increased NFTs.

Casper Stylsvig, AC Milan, Chief Revenue Officer, said, “We are thrilled to kick off this partnership with MonkeyLeague, a collaboration that allows us to strengthen our positioning in the field of digital innovation.

“We are particularly proud to be the first football club to partner with MonkeyLeague, bringing this game to our supporters around the world and offering them a new innovative way to engage with their favourite team.”

Oren Langberg, MonkeyLeague, Head of Marketing and Partnerships, commented, “Partnering with champions like AC Milan, an absolute iconic club throughout football’s history, is another testament to what we are building and where we are headed as a game and game studio. It also represents a key step in our plans to bridge the Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 worlds.”
