AC Milan becomes the first club to launch NFTs on Socios.com

The partnership between AC Milan and Socios.com started earlier in January.

The Italian football club, AC Milan, became the first club to launch Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) for its fans in association with Chiliz, on the fan engagement platform Socios.com. The launch took place on 31st October with AC Milan facing their arch-rivals AS Roma, who are also a fellow Socios.com partner.

AC Milan rolled out 100 NFT tokens and to stand a chance to receive one of those, fans needed to have a minimum of 10 $ACM fan tokens in their Socios.com wallet. While the Rossoneri fans also needed to predict the result of the AC Milan vs AS Roma clash using the predictor feature in the Socios.com application. If the fans had ticked these two criteria, then they were eligible to earn a limited edition NFT token.

Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz and Socios.com said: “NFTs, from the biggest sporting organizations in the world, are now an official component of our offering for Fan Token holders. “The AC Milan launch will be the first of many similar launches to be held with our 100+ strong roster of partners.

“In addition to bringing a collectible, tradable dimension to our offering for Fan Token holders, our NFTs will have utility, acting as loyalty tools. For instance, we envisage that holders of a certain number of club NFTs will be able to use them to unlock ‘money can’t buy experiences and other digital rewards and incentives. Fan Token holders can now look forward to a new way of being rewarded for their passion, loyalty, and commitment with these super cool, limited edition digital collectibles on Socios.com,” he added.

The partnership between AC Milan and Socios.com started earlier in January with the Italian club launching its fan tokens in the fan engagement platform. Following this fan token concept, Milan provides its fans, the right to vote in multiple club decisions each season, VIP rewards & experience, exclusive club and sponsor promotions, games, competition, and “super-fan” recognition.

AC Milan currently sits second in the Serie A league table with points tied with table leaders Napoli, and they have some exciting fixtures coming up this week. After beating, Roma 2-1 in their last league game, Milan will face FC Porto in the Champions League fixture on Wednesday. AC Milan will face their old rivals Inter Milan in the Serie A clash on 8th November.
