Rugby India, the national rugby governing body, and GMR Sports have launched the official logo for the inaugural Rugby Premier League (RPL), taking a big step towards establishing rugby as the country’s premier sport.
This significant event indicates the start of the exceptional, franchise-based Rugby 7s competition, which is set to debut this year. The competition will consist of six city-based teams, bringing together elite rugby players from top nations around the world, as well as India’s best rugby talent.
Not to forget, the RPL will expose rugby to a vast, previously untapped audience in India, allowing marketers to engage with millions of enthusiastic sports fans in one of the world’s fastest-growing countries.
The RPL logo symbolises rugby’s dynamic essence, encapsulating the amazing mix of speed, skill, strength, creativity, opportunity, teamwork, and an unwavering never-give-up attitude—characteristics that make rugby one of the most exciting outdoor sports in the world. The design symbolises the league’s objective of developing a modern, dynamic, youthful, aspirational, and globally competitive athletic event that would attract fans in India and around the world. Furthermore, the striking emblem recognises athletes’ effort and resilience during the rigorous game of rugby.
Rugby, which has been played for almost 150 years, has rapidly grown in popularity around the world. With the participation of prominent international players, the RPL facilitates cross-border cooperation, allowing sponsors to tap into the worldwide rugby community while also establishing a presence in multiple markets.
