The Sleep Company, India’s fastest-growing comfort-tech brand, has announced MS Dhoni, the former India cricket team captain, as its new brand ambassador, confirming the recent buzz around his link with the number eight.

The historic alliance aims to address one of India’s most ignored health issues: sleep deprivation. The commercial, titled ‘India Vs Peaceful Sleep’, ingeniously uses curiosity over Dhoni’s jersey number to emphasise a sobering reality: while millions of Indians spend hours in bed, relatively few get the requisite eight hours of really restful sleep. By embracing the number eight, Dhoni pushes a population obsessed with hustling to seek decent slumber.

On the association, MS Dhoni said, “For me, it’s always been about giving my best every single day. By the end of the night, there’s one thing I truly value—peaceful sleep. I believe eight hours of quality sleep makes all the difference, and I’m excited to champion this with The Sleep Company.”

At the heart of the ad is a digital campaign starring Dhoni that highlights a sometimes neglected issue: time spent in bed does not necessarily equate to excellent sleep. The film emphasises how frequent tossing, regular position changes, and underlying back pain may impair sleep, making uninterrupted sleep critical for everyday function.

With millions of Indians facing disrupted sleep habits that affect productivity and general well-being, the ad focuses on the quality of sleep rather than the quantity.

Priyanka Salot and Harshil Salot, Co-Founders of The Sleep Company, said, “India is the second most sleep-deprived country in the world. To change a national habit, you need national attention, and there is no one India trusts more than MS Dhoni. This isn’t just a campaign; it’s a movement to redefine well-being. With Dhoni leading the charge, we want to make eight hours of peaceful sleep a non-negotiable for every household.”

Priya Pardiwalla, Chief Creative Officer at StevePriya, said, “In a country that is constantly pushing and striving, peaceful sleep has quietly become one of the biggest unmet needs. With MS Dhoni on board, we wanted to tell this story in a disruptive way. The idea began with four words—‘India vs Peaceful Sleep’. By visualising this nightly struggle at the scale of a stadium, we brought alive the urgent need to reclaim eight hours of restful sleep.”

The ad focuses on The Sleep Company’s unique SmartGRID technology, which is meant to provide a balance of comfort and support. It seeks to alleviate pain, which frequently contributes to disrupted sleep, by adjusting to the body and reducing pressure points.
